If you would like to build a simple version of the slider, I see no reason why it needs to be as complex as the one I built. Take an 8 to 10” piece of threaded rod, 3/8 or ½” and 4 nuts, washers and locks. Cut out 2 tabs from heavy plastic such as the blue barrels that chemicals come in. The tabs will be about 2” wide and about 3” long. Drill a hole in one end of each tab slightly larger than the guy cable it will be used on. Cut a notch in each tab at an up angle into the hole. This will allow the tab to be snapped onto the guy cable. Drill a second hole in the bottom of each tab to fit the threaded rod. Run a nut onto each end of the rod then attach the tabs and secure each with the second washers, locks and nuts. The pull rope will be attached to the center of the threaded rod. The only problem I foresee with this design is the possibility of pulling it off the guy cable with too much down force. That can be eliminated by bolting a small piece of plastic across the slit.
