The PAC_RAT strikes again. |
Saturday September the 27th found us in Punta Gorda, Fl. To remove a 150 foot Rohn 25G tower belonging to Jerry Davidson - KI4CNE. George - W4QJP and Sam - KC4TAQ from Okeechobee along with Tom - WE4N, Charles - KI4GED, Joe - W9HLA and Jerry, all from the west coast, were on hand for the task. Jerry will be moving out of state and needed to get the tower down. We got started around 10:00 am and finished about 4 hours later. George and Jerry worked the top and the rest of the guys made up the ground crew. A pair of two meter boomers were removed from the top along with a 1 5/8" hard line and other cables, then we removed (4) 20 foot section. The gin pole was then lowered to the ground and the last 70 feet was attached to the PAC_RAT and lowered. This is the second outing for our new rig and so far we are happy with the performance. We still have a few things to complete and then it will be painted.
