The Cunning-Hams have been pickin' bluegrass in South Florida for 17 years. Frank
Cunningham, who's been around a LOT longer than 17 years (he remembers WW2 rationing)is
famous for playing good old tunes that, well, aren't so famous. You can't really predict what
you'll hear from the Cunning-Hams, because as someone once put it, Frank could sit down on
Friday with his guitar, play and sing all weekend, and not have repeated one song by Sunday
evening - and most of 'em you'll have never heard before! Along with some old time standard
bluegrass classics, you might hear a song that your mother's grandma sang, or that soldiers
knew and sang during the Civil War (also known as the War of the Northern Aggression . . .
depending on where you were from.) And he'll probably sneak in one or two of his own funny
songs, like "I'm too cheap," or "Ruthie's Cornbread."
At the Hamfest, Frank will be
accompanied by his wife, Suzanne
Lansford, on fiddle. She's a
classically-trained jazz musician,
and a two-time Yee Haw Junction
fiddle champion to boot, so she's
sure to give Frank a run for his
money, as she usually does.
